These contain highly sensitive information.<\/em><\/p><h2 id=\"introduction\">Introduction<\/h2><p>ASX is at the heart of the Australian financial markets, helping companies grow and investors build wealth. It is a top 10 global securities exchange and the largest interest rate derivatives market in Asia. ASX is granted a licence to operate critical financial market infrastructure by the Australian regulator.<\/p><p>ASX considered Smart Sparrow for two discrete streams of training. One, for its participants and listed entities, and the other stream for its employees. These two discrete projects with Smart Sparrow and are managed separately, there is no integration.<\/p><p>This specific case study \u00a0focuses on the internal training to ASX employees.<\/p><h2 id=\"the-challenge\">The Challenge<\/h2><p>ASX wanted to rethink the way it approached training and knowledge management. Because of the constantly changing nature of technology and regulations, it was vital for ASX to have the ability to update the training modules and have a direct say in the final product being delivered.<\/p><p>Until recently, internal training was generally provided face-to-face and on powerpoint. The team was very excited to reframe their thinking around designing learning for an online medium, in particular the ability to combine multimedia &#8211; video, images, text and interactive components. The development of the first lesson was a great learning experience for the team.<\/p><h2 id=\"solution\">Solution<\/h2><p>Starting from mid-2018, ASX worked with Smart Sparrow to produce 14 digital lessons on a variety of topics tailored to ASX staff, from workplace health and safety, conflict handling and data breach responses, to customer feedback and security awareness. The personalised bite-size modules aim to draw connections and contextualise the topics covered (which are often quite abstract) with the staff member\u2019s role and day-to-day experiences.<\/p><p>Smart Sparrow\u2019s analytics suite was used to produce reports that measure staff engagement with training. Individual \u201cclass\u201d reports, or deployment reports, helped the team manage the broader delivery across nearly 800 staff members, which enabled data-driven reporting.<\/p><h2 id=\"results\">Results<\/h2><p>Employees have reacted very positively to the e-learning modules, commenting that they enjoyed it, or liked revisiting the subject matter in a different light. The training project also won internal recognition for the innovativeness of its solution.<\/p><p>ASX plans to continue improving the modules developed, finding innovative and novel ways to engage employees, raise awareness of critical business topics, and collect richer data sets to measure the effectiveness of the programs.
